Do I pay for more training?

This is the single most important question people ask themselves. Sadly they almost always fall into one of two types when it comes to answer.

Some pay for training, buying time shares in Frontsite. Preaching the need to join the cult of time share afficienados who love to believe that they are actually getting value for their money spent. These individuals travel the country running up large amounts of debt “training.” Others buy every popular book out there and read until their eyes bleed. They than join several forums and become quickly known as a professional because they can recite everyone perfectly and always have the right answer. Here is the problem with both of these approaches, and yes it is a problem.
Neither has any practical knowledge based in the serious application of what they have learned focused using repetition. Sure, by the end of a three day class they can draw and shoot in under 1.5 seconds from an open carry holster. They can break down and name every spring in a standard 1911. However, neither one spends adequate time practicing. Neither one fully grasps the concepts that take a person from a store bought black belt to a life saved.

This applies to survival, self defense, gardening and life in general. A degree by itself is worthless, everyone knows this. Just as knowledge left unapplied is also worthless. So here is my suggestion, something I do regularly and highly recommend others do as well.

If you believe you have the perfect bug out pack, test that theory. Taking ONLY that pack, take three days in the out of doors, did it work? Do the same with your various bags. Have the wife drop you at work on a Friday, now you have till Sunday night to get home with your “get home bag”. Did it work? You just spent $4000 on the most up to date AR10 platform and scope so you can hit targets past 1000 yards all day. Select a range that has this ability, have your friends set up pre defined “bad guy targets”. Now, you have one hour to get to the range, locate and terminate all bad guys, starting at your place of work. Did it work?

I am well aware that there are hundreds of people out there who firmly believe what I am saying is bullshit. Thats fine, however, if you are among those who long ago dumped your cushy state jobs and love of everything murika…make sure what you are prepping for you understand and test thoroughly, not once, twice but regularly.

And folks, doing these reviews costs me money, as does the training and education I continue to give out. Feel free to donate a couple of bucks to paypal gift, jesse.mathewson@hotmail.com OR go spend several hundred bucks on a seminar where you will listen to untested theories from desk bound bandits who got popular on the internetz forums.
