Individuals: Know Yourselves!

The original Greek maxim was meant as a warning to individuals to pay no attention to the multitudes opinions. This of course flies in the face of what every child for the past century has been indoctrinated with. After all, society knows best, government is a product of society and we must all bend to the will of the collective in all things. (sarcasm implied) So here is my response for those among the liberty movement types who consistently say, “We have to show our support regardless how we feel, solidarity!” when it comes to the disagreements seen regularly among free minds.20131115-195144.jpg

Bah, I say. Or in the words of my rambunctious ancestors, Go frack yourselves.

We are all of us individuals, to become mindless adherents is to fly in the face of what a human is. My friends, often tell me, “You say no just to be the person saying no, dont you?” To which I respond with a resounding, YES. For it is masturbatory uselessness to simply agree in all things regardless how we feel. For our own individuality it is necessary to constantly question the information that flows in. To face our own very real cognitive dissonance is a challenge, however, when done successfully the taste of freedom becomes an addiction. You see, I cannot force anyone to think, I cannot coerce them to think. I can however, help them understand what it means to think by questioning them regularly!

And so I say, Individuals: Know Yourselves!

Free the mind and the body will follow – question EVERYTHING and EVERYONE

About Jesse Mathewson

Jesse Mathewson is the author of the popular blog, and provides commentary to many varied places based on a background that includes education in criminal justice, history, religion and even insurgency tactics and tactical training. His current role in his community is as an organizer of sorts and a preacher of community solidarity and agorism. He also runs Liberty Practical Training, a self defense school specializing in the practical applications of defensive approaches versus the theoretical. As an agorist, voluntaryist and atheist his life is seen as crazy and wild by many, though once they get to know him most realize he is a bluntly honest individual who will give you the shirt off his back if he believes it is necessary to help you. Very simple, "That which is voluntary between all individuals involved is always right, if it is not voluntary, it is always wrong."
