Laws? In the history of law no crime has been significantly reduced, rather with every new law a criminal is made or born. Of course there is also the fact that laws alone are incapable of actually preventing crime or bad people from committing bad acts against others. A perfect example is watching the very people making the laws breaking them day after day.
The bad person? Again, this approach is no different then assuming the government cares.
The witness to the bad act? Wait, you mean that morally we as individuals may actually have an obligation to prevent bad from occurring by acting versus simply observing, recording and whining about it?
You decide, who will stop the bad people?
In my version of life, when I see bad occurring I step in. This makes me an abnormality that in many places would be punished by the very government that is supposed to protect the victims in the first place. In most places these days to step up and stop a crime against another human or even to tell someone to pick up their trash could get you jail depending on the mood of the badges responding.
And yet, I refuse to pass of my obligation as a thinking, free and rational human by asking the question, who will stop the bad people? After all, when bad happens around me it becomes my responsibility as a moral human who follows the non aggression principle to assist in real ways. I refuse to be the observer, the recorder or the whiner when I can be the person who does something.
What are you?
Free the mind and the body will follow.
