You are tired of hearing that you need to be ready…

Over the past year I have made the point that we need to train more, test more and always be prepared. Unfortunately the more some of us hear it the more we turn away from reality. We are told the sky is falling, the government failing, the economy destroyed and the end is nigh. We are told this so much that we have learned to tune it out. IMG_00000137_edit_edit

This is the problem, not that we have tuned it out, but that because it is so very much in our faces that we wish to avoid it to live. Humans for the most part desire comfort and reliability in their lives. This is why when major accidents occur there will always be as many people standing as there are fleeing. There is a very small percentage of individuals that will actually face the event head on and engage it. Some believe this is because those individuals are born to do this. I do not believe that this is the only way, in fact, because the natural inclination of most humans is flight or freeze, I tend to believe that those who fight and fight well are simply better trained most of the time. 20131110-185926.jpg

So, what are you doing to train to respond without harming those around you if something occurs? How are you testing yourself and your tools? Are you preparing by buying supplies and stockpiling them without actually testing or training with them? IMG_00005435_edit

For your sake and that of your loved ones I truly hope that you are actually doing, versus simply reading and stockpiling. Work with your neighbours, grow a garden now, learn how to gather water where you live and get off your butts and go camping at least once every season. Learn what works and what doesnt, do this by camping over a weekend with the family and what you have in your two week set up. Be prepared by being smart and ready regardless the situation that presents itself. new cards

Tomorrow your house may burn, a flood may take your town or a storm could envelope your entire area for a week. This is reality, not a fantasy. If you are not prepared to function in the event of something happening then you are a fool. If your families well being and that of yourself is not worth more then the current television show and a run to the closest grocery store how can you possibly claim to love them?

About Jesse Mathewson

Jesse Mathewson is the author of the popular blog, and provides commentary to many varied places based on a background that includes education in criminal justice, history, religion and even insurgency tactics and tactical training. His current role in his community is as an organizer of sorts and a preacher of community solidarity and agorism. He also runs Liberty Practical Training, a self defense school specializing in the practical applications of defensive approaches versus the theoretical. As an agorist, voluntaryist and atheist his life is seen as crazy and wild by many, though once they get to know him most realize he is a bluntly honest individual who will give you the shirt off his back if he believes it is necessary to help you. Very simple, "That which is voluntary between all individuals involved is always right, if it is not voluntary, it is always wrong."
