You’re a slave and you don’t even know it

Every day I am reminded that we who truly desire freedom are not alone. There are millions of others around the globe now, people who have woken to the fallacy of nations and corporate owned governments. “Just because he’s half black don’t mean shit…” There is a movement of individuals waking up, seeing what is necessary in a world bent on the destruction of the individual.

There is no freedom in following, moving or being apart of a group. Freedom occurs when you realize you are an individual and when you begin to think without restriction. “We’re all smart…” Yes, we are all smart. “I shoulda realized…” The things every single human says before they die. Unless we are individuals and live as we desire we will all regret the moment we die. Stop following, stop believing we need leaders, and most importantly stop allowing others to think for us. Yes, I quote Sun Tzu and various artists, to add flavor to my thoughts, never to think for me.

You religiously follow the exploits of the liberty movement “heroes”. And yet you still have not learned to think for yourself, you apply labels to yourself and embrace them when given. I discard them and trample them every chance I get. Are you free because you listen to Chris Cantwell, Anthony Beuhler, Ron Paul, Stefan Molynuex and others? Are you free because you can quote Proudhon, Ludwig Von Mises, Kevin Walsh, Rothbard, Laozi, Bakunin and others? Do you think because you graduated from Mises with a cool certificate or because you signed the move to the Shire contract and have moved that you are free? spineartifacts

I say those who promote anything over themselves and their thoughts is still a slave, still in servitude to thought that is not original. I use quotes, I enjoy quotes, especially from Sun Tzu and Thomas Paine, and yet, you will find that I rarely use them except to enhance my own thoughts. I enjoy reading and studying all of the above authors and even occasionally catch myself enjoying a video or podcast from some of the speakers listed. I do so because it is entertaining. More importantly it is necessary for my own personal growth. However, I was an individual long before I had ever studied anything the Mises institute puts out. I was an individual long before I understood the differences between the many varied philosophies of anarchism.

I was called an atheist before I understood or knew what it was to be one. I was called an anarchist before I understood or knew what it was to be one. If I can through my writing cause someone to search for themselves for answers then I have succeeded. I require and desire no role as a famous speaker and would never accept an opportunity to speak in front of others at any of the more well known “liberty meetups” over the course of a year. I do not want to gather fame, to make money from my thoughts, I wish to share them freely with everyone. I want freedom to become the result of what I do. If one more individual becomes free as a result of what I do I am satisfied and will gladly die without regrets. Front view lspine

No man or woman can ever hold all the answers, no man or woman or group especially is the key to the success of liberty. In fact liberty for all of its wonderful connotations should never be the goal of the individual. Freedom, the ability to act as we wish without external threats, pressures, ideals or rules being placed upon us should be the goal of the individual. While my body is confined by the rules of the arbitrarily placed system called government, my mind will always remain free. For this simple idea I will surely be killed or die. For this ideal my life and body is forfeit, and yet the idea that is freedom will live on. It is a true beneficial virus, the ideal that is freedom of the individual.

Never believe that you follow the only path, that is the sure way to destruction of self and promotion of slavery. There will always be many paths, seven billion people are alive on this planet, more are born every second, many more die as a result of the various cults that exist on this planet. Religion is the end of all freedom, “the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, esp. a personal God or gods.” Superhuman controlling power, “having or showing exceptional ability or power.” Government has and exhibits exceptional power over the minds of so many individuals on this planet, government has become the new religion. Deism still exists and yet, the truly dangerous religion is not deistic in nature, it is state based. It is nationalism, it is borders and race and sex and every other label applied liberally by the state to ensure division and as a result power. IMG_00000005_edit

Become an individual, become truly free. Stop watching mainstream television, ignore the major news outlets and go find a tree or mountain to sit on for a few days. Cut ties to the world of the computer and the false idea that we are connecting by entering 01000110 01110010 01100101 01100101 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 01110010 00100000 01101101 01101001 01101110 01100100 00100000 01100001 01101110 01100100 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01100010 01101111 01100100 01111001 00100000 01110111 01101001 01101100 01101100 00100000 01100110 01101111 01101100 01101100 01101111 01110111 into a computer. You are free if you believe you are. You are only truly free if you no longer require validation from others. I am human, I enjoy being congratulated and applauded. And yet, I do not write any of this specifically for that reason. I write because I must, because by writing I am freeing my own mind more and taking my life back. I do not write to make a living or buy a boat, I write and freely give it to others. IMG_00005610_edit

An idea cannot be harnessed if it is to propagate, an idea must be free. This is why I actively seek to destroy the notion that what we think, write and create in our minds is ours alone. I wish only to live, and to share with others. I have taught hundreds of individuals how to shoot better or how to shoot period. And I have never once charged a dime. I have researched and practiced and tested and shared that which has made my families and my life better. Why do I do this? Because I believe in freedom, and freedom requires my belief that I am free and that others can be. scottish flag

Hopsin, the artist I have quoted is I believe an individual. Remember, just because someone robs you does not mean they own you. Taxes do not make you a slave, direct active labor for those who in turn use your labor to rob others is, however, slavery. Until you free your mind you will remain a slave. Until you think for yourself and discard the group think, state think, religious appeals and approaches you will be a slave. I and so many others are not slaves, we are free.

Free the mind and the body will follow.

About Jesse Mathewson

Jesse Mathewson is the author of the popular blog, and provides commentary to many varied places based on a background that includes education in criminal justice, history, religion and even insurgency tactics and tactical training. His current role in his community is as an organizer of sorts and a preacher of community solidarity and agorism. He also runs Liberty Practical Training, a self defense school specializing in the practical applications of defensive approaches versus the theoretical. As an agorist, voluntaryist and atheist his life is seen as crazy and wild by many, though once they get to know him most realize he is a bluntly honest individual who will give you the shirt off his back if he believes it is necessary to help you. Very simple, "That which is voluntary between all individuals involved is always right, if it is not voluntary, it is always wrong."
