“They are the standing army, and the militia, jailers, constables, posse comitatus, etc. In most cases there is no free exercise whatever of the judgment or of the moral sense; but they put themselves on a level with wood and earth and stones; and wooden men can perhaps be manufactured that will serve the purpose as well. Such command no more respect than men of straw or a lump of dirt. They have the same sort of worth only as horses and dogs. Yet such as these even are commonly esteemed good citizens.” Henry David Thoreau

There is a time when all people must question lawful authority and even disobey it. Civil disobedience is not evil when you are disobeying immoral laws and government, never fear repercussion, only fear not acting. As individuals we have the ability to see right and wrong, whether they be religious or not, each of us understand right and wrong action. For those who continue to embrace tyranny and a system that is rotten to its core, they have embraced wrong. It is up to all others to embrace and promote right action.

Rights are widely regarded as the basis of law, but what if laws are bad? Some theorists suggest civil disobedience is, itself, a right, and it was advocated by thinkers such as Henry David Thoreau, Martin Luther King Jr., and Gandhi. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The time to act is now, refuse to willingly bow to immoral authority. If you are currently engaged as a member of the military or law enforcement community, refuse to follow immoral orders. Do so with the sure knowledge that you will lose your source of income at the very least, and possibly even your freedom. However, if you continue assisting in immoral wars and the enforcement of immoral laws and unethical policies you will surely lose more then a simple job or freedom. To cause others harm, who desire the same things you do, for the sake of a depraved government makes you as wicked as they.

I have over the years disobeyed countless malevolent laws, orders and policies. Not because I wish to break the law itself, but because my following these laws, orders or policies would by default be far more sinister in nature then my disobedience of them. We each choose our paths and it is how we walk through our lives that makes us good or evil. Organized religion and governments make it clear that you must follow orders, precepts and the paths laid out for you. However, they do not tell you what you may lose by doing that which is against our very nature. Man is essentially good, we are selfish by nature, however, that selfishness is directed at benefiting ourselves. Even a child understands that to benefit themselves they must do that which benefits others by default. This is why humans trade, we trade emotional security for sexual pleasure, one toy for another and so on. It is only when organized religion and government is involved that our basic goodness is coerced into acts of great evil for the sake of those in charge at the moment.

Government is a body if individuals using an idea to control others. Government abuses the power granted it by others and seeks to always gain more. Organized religion does the same, faith is in itself not malevolent, however, when structured for the gain of those in control it becomes quite sinister and always ends with the deaths of innocents. Both government and organized religion have the blood of hundreds of millions of human lives on their hands. And no organized religion or government is innocent of this simple fact. Even atheism when supportive of the state and its goals becomes an entity of great potential harm.

No gods and no masters, each individual should strive for this. There is no reason to have man made gods and masters in control of our lives. If we desire faith in a supreme being of our choice, then so be it, but do not create around that something that will surely be misused and result in the abuse and murder of millions. Each of us is an individual, each of us has the ability to say no. What many of us lack is the will to do so. We talk about the evils that surround us and yet kneel before those we deem our protectors or superiors because of a uniform they choose to wear. We are taught from early childhood that authority must be obeyed and that any number of myths are real.

Instead of facts we are fed that which inflames our emotions, and taught that feeling is better then knowing. Modern church goers speak in volumes about the need for more action against the muslims, and muslims speak for action against the infidels. Even atheists use the legal system and political means to force or coerce their agendas and all of the above feel they are doing the right thing. This is why those who present facts, knowledge and ideas that run counter to what they feel, are often ostracized and even imprisoned or worse. Instead of facts, the reactions of the mob that votes for and worships the state under its many guises, are guided to commit great atrocities in the name of freedom, safety and the greater good. Those same members of the obedient mob attribute great evils to past leaders while ignoring the same evils occurring right beside them.

Civil disobedience is not only necessary for the true liberty lover, it is essential to the health of those around them. For by committing various acts of civil disobedience regardless size or nature you show those around you that the state itself is neither omniscient nor necessary. Are you willing to support your words with actions? Many I know support their words with action. Some place themselves in harms way by choosing to film the immoral activities of the law enforcers loosed among us. Others face possible death for releasing secret information detailing murder, lies and more about the governments in power to the general public. I and many others utilize gray and black market tactics in our approach.

We can be free, we simply have to be willing to lose our very lives to obtain that which we desire. What are you doing today for the cause of real freedom? Are your actions supporting the state that controls you or are your actions promoting the ideal of true freedom? Tens of thousands use the term, molon labe, and yet they worship the states enforcers and its uniformed false heroes. Will those using that term truly be willing to stand against those in uniform when the time comes that they are the ones sent to take their tools from them. It is not the suits in Washington that will come to your doors, it is those you idolize, the uniforms around you that will be sent.

Disobey now. Revolt peacefully by refusing to obey immoral laws. Engage in promoting peace and real liberty by showing others what must be done to ensure it occurs. Do not be afraid, others are out here, we believe, we strive daily and we are many.

Free the mind and the body will follow
